We are currently seeking a Program Manager.   This position requires a “hands on” approach as it is directly involved in working with the internal technical and operational organizations as well as it is the key customer facing representative for our client.  The PM will have a high level of exposure with customers to ensure the goals are achieved on time and on budget.

Job Function:

A Program Manager is expected to:

  • Lead aerospace and military engineering and manufacturing IPD teams through design, development, qualification and LRIP production phases.
  • Act as primary point of contact for customers for these phases.
  • Perform project planning, progress measurement, team coordination, scope control, cost control, and status reporting to executive management and customers.
  • Carry out business development activities.

Position Responsibilities:

A Program Manager is responsible for:

  • Creation and release of project Work Breakdown Structure with approved budgets.
  • Creation and maintenance of project Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Facilitating IPD Process compliance by completing required Initiating Activities, Design Reviews, and Gate Review requirements.
  • Facilitate internal and customer weekly team meetings/teleconferences with documentation of minutes and maintenance of Action Item Lists.
  • Creation of monthly Program Review materials for assigned projects.
  • Achievement of NRE Cost, Design to Cost, and Schedule performance against budget for assigned projects. (Shared with functional department leadership)
  • Review and creation of material and/or labor plans and cost reports.
  • Resolution and coordination of project cost, schedule, and technical performance issues.
  • Monitor and control of project scope.
  • Escalation of issues or risks that cannot be resolved at the project team level.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction for assigned projects.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow business content with associated projects and customers.
  • Supporting significant proposals with related PMO inputs.
  • Initiating and scrubbing proposal Bases of Estimates and Schedules.

 

Accuracy – A Program Manager is expected to achieve:

  • Project NRE expenditures to within 10% of BAC.
  • On-time delivery of major milestones to within 2 weeks of baseline.
  • A high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstration of ethical standards.

 

Supervision Received – A Program Manager will:

  • Receive supervision and mentorship by the PMO Senior Program Manager(s) or Director of Programs.
  • Be expected to be self-motivated and pursue duties with minimum direction.

 

Supervision Exercised – A Program Manager will:

  • Typically not have any direct-report employees.
  • Need to be persuasive in a matrix organization.
  • At times mentor Associate Program Managers, or Major Subcontracts Managers within the PMO.

 

Contacts – A Program Manager will communicate with:

  • PMO counterparts, Procurement Managers, and lead engineers at Customer facilities.
  • Management Team, Sr. PMs, Engineers, Quality Engineers, Mfg Operations Cell Managers, & all other Employees as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business.
  • Earned Value Management expertise.
  • Have 5 to 10 years background in aerospace and/or military mechanical and/or electrical component and/or systems engineering design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Understand basic PM principles, such as those promoted by the Project Management Institute.
  • Possess above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate appropriate business acumen.
