Required skills:

  • A valid Professional Engineer’s License is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering, and at least six (6) years of related practical experience in the engineering field including at least two (2) years of managerial/supervisory experience. A satisfactory combination of education and experience may be considered for candidates who possess the required license.
  • Expertise and working knowledge in the design and deployment of all noted communications systems (below) is required.
  • Design experience and first-hand knowledge of implementation and practical construction methods of various communication systems, particularly where integration with other systems is involved.

Desired skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the following systems: Telephones, Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Security, Closed Circuit Television, Public Address, Visual Displays, Intercoms, 48 V DC Power Plants, Structured Cabling
  • Expertise with installations of systems in harsh environments.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Description of work:

  • The incumbent will provide design and construction support of multiple communications projects which involve the following systems: Telephones, Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Security, Closed Circuit Television, Public Address, Visual Displays, Intercoms, 48 V DC Power Plants, Structured Cabling.
  • Identify and specify the identification of system interfaces.
  • Develop, check and evaluate the feasibility / constructability of a design as depicted on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Project Engineer will work with clients, Construction Managers (CMs) and Design Managers (DMs) to ensure practices conform to standards and guidelines. Project Engineers work with other staff to incorporate feedback and revisions to standards and guidelines.
  • Project Engineer will be expected to coordinate with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, structural and architecture.
  • Take action to ensure performance of assigned staff.
  • Report on ongoing performance. Prepare and deliver presentations, conduct analysis and make recommendations on project alternatives.
