Job Description:The KOHL Group seeks Human Factors Engineering & Human Systems Integration professionals to contribute to the systems engineering management inputs for major transit capital programs in the NYC Metropolitan Area. Advances in technology have created opportunities for optimizing transit systems in terms of operating efficiencies, queuing algorithms, command and control, safety, and security. With these advances in performance come increased complexities in operating environments, particularly in the human interface touch points associated with these systems. Work will involve identifying these touch points and developing integration and interaction requirements to optimize the usability and usefulness of the transit infrastructure, as well as the behavior and performance of the operators in order to minimize errors and reduce ramp time to systems/operations mastery. Consideration will also be given to the behavior and performance of others associated with these systems, including passengers, pedestrians, and service personnel.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Advanced degree in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Human Systems Integration/Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, or equivalent experience

5 to 10 years of relevant Human Factors experience in developing Human Systems Integration/Interaction requirements and specifications for complex systems and environments (i.e., command and control systems, communications-based control systems, operator/operations safety systems, security systems).

Experience leading or participating in multidisciplinary and Integrated Project Teams with diverse stakeholders.

Experience in Usability and Interaction Requirements development, and with a variety of user research and experimental design methods, including one-on-one usability testing, contextual inquiry, task analytics, and cognitive walk-throughs.

Experience developing systems prototypes with varying levels of behavior for testing and demonstration purposes.
