Brief Description:
- Usability test design and moderation; data analysis; presenting findings & recommendations to stakeholders.
Job Description
- Design, run and analyze usability studies and focus groups
- Research consumer & IT professional behaviors and expectations
- Explore new technologies and their application to real-world environments
- Design and conduct contextual inquiry research and competitive analyses
- Prototype new feature/function concepts
- Design, run and analyze concept validation studies with a sample of users
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations of findings and recommendations for improvements to stakeholders at all levels
- Negotiate requirements and designs with developers and product managers
- Research includes: one on one usability testing, contextual inquiry research, focus groups, card sorts/tree testing (information architecture), and surveys.
Requirements/Desired Skills/Experience:
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in experimental/cognitive Psychology (or related field of study), and 3 years or more of post-academic relevant research experience, and have demonstrated the ability to:
- Design, set up, run and analyze usability studies,
- Clearly and succinctly document study results,
- Research, write and negotiate user/service requirements.
- Training in experimental design, usability testing and basic statistics
- A personal interest in current developments in mobile and web-based applications
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, and a keen attention to detail,
- Proficiency in application of Human Factors principles to design systems, design of experiments, scale methodologies, usability testing/focus group moderation, basic statistical analysis.
Education:
Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in human computer interaction, human factors, cognitive/experimental psychology, or interaction design.
