Job Description:

The Senior Compliance/Test Engineer will work closely with the Engineering and Product Management organizations to develop & implement reliability and compliance test programs for the new line of industrial torque tools.  The candidate should have broad experience in electro-mechanical design, reliability testing, accelerated life testing and compliance testing to industry standards including UL, CSA, and European as well as other international standards.  The test engineer will have a proven track record of working with independent test agencies to plan and carry out test programs.  The test engineer will also help design and carry out accelerated life testing, functional qualification testing and new product in-house user testing.  An ideal candidate will have experience managing and implementing test programs on industrial products that have embedded controllers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work closely with the engineering team to take on project management of multiple current and planned compliance test programs.
• Develop written specifications and plans for new product compliance testing which may include environmental testing (thermal, shock, vibration and electrical compliance) and functional (primarily mechanical) testing.
• Work closely with an independent test agency to carry out plans through completion including managing appropriate reports, notifications, product labeling, etc.
• Work with engineering and product management to develop and carry out reliability testing, functional testing and user testing programs..
• Review product samples with product engineers, designers and developers to develop clear direction for appropriate standards verification and compliance.
• Work closely with product management and technical staff to ensure testing and compliance is planned and reported as part of the project plan.
• Develop unique test plans, fixtures and procedures as required.
• Maintain a current knowledge of relevant industry standards including UL, CSA, etc.
• Work closely with the quality organization to manage product change and revisions including planning test programs that ensure reliability and keep products in compliance.
• Manage the testing and compliance process to meet customer & sales launch schedules.
• Design/definition of special test equipment.
• Developing specifications and plans, generation of test reports for tests performed in-house.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; e.g. BSME or BSEE or higher
• Strong knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical product design/manufacturing
• Extensive knowledge of environmental testing; thermal, shock, vibration, electrical
• Demonstrated ability managing products through reliability and compliance testing programs
• 5 years minimum experience in reliability and compliance testing
• Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, Excel
• Project Management, reporting status on programs
• Excellent communication and team skills
