Position Title: User Experience Researcher – Senior

Arrangement: Long-term, full time, onsite contractor position
Location: Waltham, MA (Boston Metro Area)

 

Brief Description

  • Usability test design and moderation; data analysis; presenting findings & recommendations to stakeholders

Job Description

  • Independently design, run and analyze usability studies and focus groups
  • Research consumer behaviors and expectations
  • Explore new technologies and their application to real-world environments
  • Design and conduct contextual inquiry research and competitive analyses
  • Prototype new feature/function concepts
  • Design, run and analyze concept validation studies with a sample of users
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations of findings and recommendations for improvements to stakeholders at all levels
  • Negotiate requirements and designs with developers and product managers
  • Research includes: one on one usability testing, contextual inquiry research, focus groups, card sorts/tree testing (information architecture), and surveys

Requirements/Desired Skills/Experience

  • Ideal candidate has an advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in experimental/cognitive Psychology (or related field of study), a personal interest in current developments in mobile and web-based applications, 5 years or more of post-academic relevant research experience, and demonstrated the ability to:
    • Independently design, set up, run and analyze usability studies
    • Clearly and succinctly document study results
    • Research, write and negotiate user/service requirements
    • Leverage training in experimental design, usability testing and basic statistics
    • Develop and deliver engaging presentations of findings and recommendations for improvement
    • Apply principles of Human Factors to design systems, design experiments, scale methodologies, moderate usability testing/focus groups, and perform basic statistical analysis

Education

Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in human computer interaction, human factors, cognitive/experimental psychology, or interaction design.
